In May 2017, Musical.ly started to invite verified users in the U.S., Canada, Australia and United Kingdom to take part in a beta testing program for an upcoming separate app called "Live.ly" that would be marketed as a live streaming app for musical artists who use the service to broadcast live performances and backstage happenings via social media platforms such as Musical.ly and YouTube. In late August 2017, the app began slowly rolling out to British iOS users overtheair after it had been fully released in the Canadian App Store around July; it was also released on Android on September 25, 2017. Unlike regular musical.ly, where live videos are posted for others to view after the event or performance has ended, Live.ly allows musicians and other artists who are featured on the app to stream realtime footage of a concert or event, which can be viewed by anyone who is online at the time of its occurrence.",
In May 2018, a video made by Pakistani comedians surfaced on YouTube. The video was critically acclaimed in Pakistan as it made fun of men who perform stunts with several props in public places. Many young people started doing the same thing, which was considered a crime by police officers. In the same month, another video made by two Indian boys went viral on the internet that showed how they were prank calling people and asking vulgar questions.",
TikTok is taking steps to clamp down on users who promote selfharm through its app. In January 2019, TikTok removed more than 485,000 musical.ly videos for "encouraging or glorifying selfharm," "glamorizing eating disorders" and other harmful content.",
TikTok may be missing features such as a video editor, and its data intensive nature may make it difficult for the app to gain traction in markets where data usage is increasingly expensive. It also remains to be seen if the app can retain its popularity with teenagers.",

The group uploaded 14 videos to TikTok, and soon after they were removed twice for infringing on copyright laws. A spokesperson from Shanghai authorities said that they had "strictly" enforced copyright laws on access to music videos and screen shots which are not authorised by the owners.The following video is considered inappropriate for young children because it shows adults taking shots and smoking while sitting on a couple of young boys. The adults involved are the child's parents, and the context in which all this occurs is not clear from the video.",
